Welcome to kayak4kids

Welcome to Kayak4kids We aim to become a self funded, non profit youth club which aspire to improve the health, local nautical knowledge and sea safety of children aged between 5 -17 through participation in kayaking. You will notice that we are based in Salcombe, South Devon. However, we are not here to just cater for the children of this wonderful and interesting town but for everyone in the South Hams and hopefully one day, for all in England & Wales.
As of 18th June 2009, a select few (please see previous events at the top of the page) ratified the constitution and started us on our way to becoming a recognised charity by the Charities Commission of England & Wales. At that historic meeting the following objectives were agreed upon J
(1) To be located in Salcombe, Devon. This Youth Water Club is to be offered as a free community service to boys and girls and their families from March to September.
(2) To provide a half-day summer club providing instruction in the basic fundamentals of sit-on-top kayaking and to teach the children about the Ria’s wildlife.
(3) The club will also teach the basics in equipment care, water safety & navigation rules, paddling techniques, capsize recovery, proper use of safety gear, Salcombe harbour bye-laws.
(4) To raise money for the charity through sponsored events from October to February by any means of kayaking.
We hope to get the kayak4kids club set up in time for the summer of 2010. In the meantime all money donated by you will go to Friends of Salcombe School Association (801578) on behalf of Kayak4kids. For our first fundraising attempt we will be kayaking the 24 miles from Plymouth to Salcombe on Sunday 16th August 2009. Please give generously as the more successful we are with our kayaking events then the quicker we can get this fantastic kids club up and running. Thank you so much for your support.
If you would like to become involved then please sign up to become a member (totally free of course!) and I will send you loads of useful information and some goodies for you to spread the word.
Thank you again!
Chris Bonnet – Chairman & Founder of Kayak4kids
